2001 - 2006

2006 - Tokyo & Theater!

We play at the ROOTS CLUB TOKYO, we make noise - they make noise.

We compose the music for the play "Kasimir & Karoline" by Ödön von Horváth, staged at the "Deutsches THeater" in Berlin, directed by Andreas Dresen.Music for a stage full of actors asks for a whole new concept of our perception of our music.

"Kasimir & Karoline", with us live on stage, will be staged twice a month, up until mid 2008.

2005 - Our tenth anniversary!

Our tenth anniversary! Randa Chahoud and Jan Müller compile a 45 minute documentary, out first DVD, called "LIVE IN BERLIN", that recounts how we started out to do what we do.

Greatest show on earth

Joining up with the CABUWAZI children's circus we perform five sold out shows of our IRRLICHTER show. Magic!

2004 - Africa!

Stimulated by our stay in Morocco, we edify the south Moroccan city of Sidi Ifni as a metaphor for the blend of diffuse influences… On our new CD, pieces like [hip-audio mp3="http://en.17hippies.de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/05/11-valsernelbosco-if.mp3"] Valser Nel Bosco from Tessin are lent a very odd angle the moment one learns of the Swiss-built gondola cable car which once floated up from the coast to Sidi Ifni…

At one of the most picturesque festivals in the world, staged in the tiny village of Luxey in Les Landes on the Atlantic coast, we hear a Hungarian band play an instrumental piece and learn to play it ourselves in every conceivable variation – but at best only half as fast as the Hungarians can!

Luxey

December has us play a live concert with New York's very own MARC RIBOT for the WDR in Cologne.

2003 - Hardcore Trobadors & Sexy Ambient Hippies

Our collaboration with the ‘Léos’ from Bordeaux as the HARDCORE TROBADORS winds up taking us all to a studio in Berlin, where we record six tracks. One of them is [hip-audio mp3="http://en.17hippies.de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/05/01-jahschneider-hct.mp3"] JAH SCHNEIDER. A total trip was also the weekend we all spent in Moscow.

Another favourite sideline project is SEXY AMBIENT HIPPIES. In the SEXY AMBIENT concerts drums and electronics supplement our pieces with strange sounds and grooves.

Sexy Ambient Hippies II

This kind of smooth shift from improvisation to a shaped song form has been integrated into [hip-audio mp3="http://en.17hippies.de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/05/04-ifni-if.mp3"] IFNI, the title track of our next album.

2002 - We start by going on tour in Germany for a few weeks

The film HALBE TREPPE has brought quite some "renommée!" Suddenly, what we do is not simply music, but "art". That doesn't really change anything.

Then the legendary ‘imperialist-royalist’ tour takes us at long last to Prague, Budapest and Vienna. We spend the summer playing various festivals in France.

Harcore Trobadors

Inspired by french musicians and french language, we write [hip-audio mp3="http://en.17hippies.de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/05/05-sirba-s.mp3"] SIRBA, which we record for our French CD with the singer of the band ‘Les Hurlements d’Léo’.

[hip-audio mp3="http://en.17hippies.de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/05/08-marlene-if.mp3"] MARLÈNE joyously and lightheartedly delights French radio stations for months on end, which delights us too.

2001 - Music for a film

At the closing gala of the Berlinale film festival the director Andreas Dresen asks us if we’d do the music for his latest film »Halbe Treppe«. We agree immediatly. Writing the music for the film, we come up with our first own song: [hip-audio mp3="http://en.17hippies.de/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/05/02-madbadcat-s.mp3"] MAD BAD CAT.
